Investment Management

Investment Management is responsible for McMaster University’s investments associated with its pensions, group RRSP, and short-term and long-term (including endowment) investments.

Total assets under management as at June 30, 2018 of approximately $3.5 billion:

  • $2.1 billion - Pension Plans and Group RRSP Plan
  • $1.1 billion - Investment Pool
  • $0.3 billion - Short-term and Medium-term Investments
Additional responsibilities include short and long-term borrowing, liquidity and foreign exchange management, rating agency management, external investment manager/investment bank relationship management. Investment Management activities include researching new investment opportunities, developing asset allocation and risk management strategies, investment policies, monitoring and oversight of external investment managers, investment performance reporting, management of short-term investments and daily cash flow and foreign exchange requirements for the University.
